If you are interested in becoming an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner there are luckily several free and affordable resources out there for you. My goal is to save you time researching exam prep options so you can start studying today! In as little as one month, you can prepare for and crush this exam if you have about one hour a day to commit to studying (this, of course, depends on how you learn – feel free to contact me for study tips based on your learning preferences).
FREE TRAINING FROM AWS
- AWS Skills Center training (in person, instructor-led): Do you live near an AWS Skills Center? As of October 2022, there are two physical locations in the US that offer free classes: Arlington, VA and Seattle, WA (there are supposed to be more locations launched in 2023). I attended an awesome 3 ½ hour, in-person Exam Readiness – AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner course in November 2022! To learn about my experience, check out my featured post on my LinkedIn page. - AWS Virtual Training Events (virtual, instructor-led): Do you NOT live near a Skills Center or simply just prefer to learn virtually? No matter where you live in the world, you can find a training that works for you with AWS live virtual training. I attended the Cloud Practitioner Essentials Day in October 2022 and wrote a review to give you an overview of what to expect. You can register for a virtual training with AWS on this page.
- AWS Skill Builder (online, self-paced): Want to take your learning into your own hands in your own time? If so, the 14-hour Cloud Essentials Learning Plan may be for you. I have not personally completed this entire course but it comes highly recommended by colleagues. The format is a series of 8 modules of video content with an exam prep course at the end. To enroll in the free course, go here. (Note: If you want to take just one course from this 14-hour block, I suggest the 6-hour AWS Cloud Practitioners Essential course, which you can access directly here. I was told by AWS staff that this 6-hour digital course has the same content as the AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials Day virtual training mentioned in the section above. However, I found this more beginner-friendly than the virtual workshop because of the format and how they break the information into smaller chunks.)
FREE NON-AWS TRAINING:
- A Cloud Guru (online, self-paced): I was told by AWS employees in my professional network that this is the coursework that they are given access to when they decide to pursue AWS certifications. As of October 2022, the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam preparation course is free! It is really well done with hands-on labs and a self-paced format. I highly recommend it! I am looking forward to taking more of their classes; there is a subscription fee ($35+/month) for many of their courses but you can check our their free tier here.
